Die nächste UN-Klimakonferenz findet vom 28. November bis zum 9. Dezember 2011 in Durban (Südafrika) statt.
Unter dem Dach der UN-Klimarahmenkonvention werden Industrie-, Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländer um ein neues Verhandlungsmandat für ein globales Klimaschutzabkommen ringen. Nach den Klimagipfeln von Kopenhagen 2009 und Cancún 2010 nimmt die Weltgemeinschaft in Durban erneut einen Anlauf, die nötigen Maßnahmen zu beschließen, damit die Erderwärmung aufgrund des Klimawandels auf maximal 2 Grad beschränkt werden kann.
SchülerInnen, DirektorInnen, LehrerInnen und Mitglieder der lokalen Schulumgebung aus Primar- und Sekundarschulen in Österreich, Malta, Polen, der Slowakei und Tschechien und die koordinierenden Organisationen des internationalen Projekts „Global Action Schools 2 Communities“, das in mehr als 160 Schulen in unseren Staaten umgesetzt wird, verfassten ein Schreiben, das an die Teilnehmer der UN-Klimakonferenz gesendet wird.
Dieser Brief ergeht auch an Bundesminister Dipl-Ing. Nikolaus Berlakovich, der Österreich bei der Klimakonferenz in Südafrika vertreten wird.

On November 28th, 2011 the next International UN Climate Change Conference will start in Durban, South Africa. There the issue of climate change will be discussed on an international political level.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference, Durban 2011, will bring together representatives of the world's governments, international organizations and civil society. The discussions will seek to advance, in a balanced fashion, the implementation of the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol, as well as the Bali Action Plan , agreed at COP 13 in 2007, and the Cancun Agreements, reached at COP 16 last December.
On behalf of all the Global Action Schools taking part in this year's project, a letter will be sent to the representatives of their countries, stating their point of view, expressing their concern about the current situation and offering support for finding a lasting solution.
This letter will also be sent to the Austrian Minister for Environmental Issues ,
Dipl-Ing. Berlakovich, who will be representing Austria in Durban.
